Umrah package offer
Thursday June 5 2008 By Nouman Khalil, Staff Reporter Brampton Makki Masjid is offering an Umrah (pilgrim) package for those Muslims who wish to visit Makkah and Madinah.
It is the first-ever Umrah trip arranged by the Brampton Makki Masjid— a non-profit mosque serving a vast majority of Muslims of Brampton and the GTA Region since 1970.
“This is a fantastic opportunity and I think our community should benefit of this offer,” Inam Ahmed, one of the trip organizers, told South Asian Focus.
“The sole purpose of this trip is to educate people about the history of Islam and to introduce Sunnat so that people should perform their life according to Sunnah,” said Ahmed.
During Umrah, pilgrims will be able see historical sites in Saudi Arabia.
The masjid offers a two-week round trip Toronto-Jeddah-Toronto for $2,500, which includes visa processing and handling; tours and lessons in Makkah and Madinah by Imam; private transportation in air-conditioned group bus; availability of tour guides 24/7; weekly seminars prior to departure; and free ‘ihram’ for men and ‘hijab’ for women.
Children will get 25 per cent discount while separate side trips can be arranged to India, Pakistan or Dubai.
A 36-member group will be led by Imam Omar Subedar of Brampton Makki Masjid and the pilgrims will be selected on first come, first serve basis.
